Services for women in the community

Why gender-specific?

Equality does not mean treating everyone the same. Women's health and wellbeing is affected by their life experiences and social, cultural and economic  circumstances. Statistically, women experience, family, domestic and sexual violence at much higher rates than men. Women are also usually the primary carers and make up the majority of sole-parents. Due to their caring responsibilities, time out of the workforce and the gender pay gap women are at most risk of economic insecurity. Different needs require a different service approach.
